The term “MONO” can be confusing nowadays.
When we speak about mono, we either mean a single-layer film, but also a multiple layer laminate that consists of more than one layer belonging to the same plastic family, for instance a 2-ply PP-PP for confectionary products or snacks.
The first version, the single-layer, can be a mono-PE, surface printed, often used for deep-frozen products.
Mono PP single layers are frequently used for pillowbags or flow-packs, for basic products, if no high barrier is needed.
The second version, the mono-multilayers, normally reverse printed, have become popular today hence the focus on optimizing recyclability.
We aim for mono-laminates with a good printability, machinability- and barrier-properties without using different families of plastic.
